Thai Company, Lamont to be re-named "Alexander Lamont"

Alexander Lamont is pleased to announce the re-naming of the company Lamont, to "'Alexander Lamont." The name change is to emphasize his role as designer and creative director of the company. The launch of the new face for the company is the result of 18 months of planning, thinking and editing.
Along with the new name comes new graphics, a website, catalogues, shop presentation and new designs. Lamont states,"I want the brand to better reflect the passions that lie with-in each individual piece that is made."
In the Sukhothai store, visitors will be introduced to designs that express a vision of beauty, soulfulness and character in form and material. These are intense pieces that are caste,hammered,inlaid, polished and lacquered. Production involves the companies first combination of guilded lacquer and straw, new materials in gesso and eggshell and many new finishes in bronze.
The brands new logo is the joining of a cicada and a chalice. The cicada represents rebirth in early Chinese culture and the chalice is a Christian symbol that is used in communtion.The new website was created by Victor Wong, who runs an IT company in Paris. The collection was photographed by Yuna Yagi, a photographer based in Kyoto.
