The Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP), previously known as the Department of Export Promotion, officially launches 'Thailand Trust Mark' (TTM) - a new quality assurance for Thai products and services, to replace the successful 'Thailand's Brand' icon introduced in 1990.
The move is part of the government's proactive policy on trade development, in preparation for the integration into the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) in 2015.
"Driven by several trade-related factors and the need for change in the current global market where intense competition prevails, TTM will assure the quality of Thai products and services, as well as promote the image of a "Reliable Country-of-Origin". In so doing, the mark benefits consumers, foreign traders and local entrepreneurs alike. Consumers who choose TTM products, and traders who wish to establish partnership with TTM-endorsed entrepreneurs can be confident that not only do the products and services themselves offer high quality that we guarantee; but the production process is reliable, safe, environmental friendly and socially responsible as well. These are the added values that entrepreneurs will enjoy at the same time," said Kittirat Na-Ranong, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce, who presided over the 'TTM' launching event.
According to the department, TTM would certify products and services that are in conformity with internationally accepted standards.
"Building on the success of 'Thailand's Brand' icon which guarantees the diversity and refinement of products and services from Thailand, the TTM takes another step further to assure worldwide consumers of "Trusted Quality" that Thai products and services have to offer," the department said in a statement.
With the new icon, the department expects to boost confidence of foreign buyers in making purchase decisions, and of foreign traders in establishing a trade partner relationship with TTM-endorsed entrepreneurs; as well as to create added value and raise competitiveness for registered products and services of Thailand in the world market through positive product and country perceptions. These factors will ensure a leading and competitive position of Thailand in the international trade arena, when the ASEAN is established as a single market and production base under the ASEAN Economic Community.
TTM icon can be used only by members of the department’s Exporter List and companies registered in Thailand.
