SMOOD COLLECTION FROM APIRAT BOONRUANGTHAWORN AT IFFS 2012
Thai designer Apirat Boonruangthaworn introduced his SMOOD COLLECTION at this years IFFS(International Furniture Fair Singapore.) The outdoor furniture is created from recycled aluminum waste that is recast to create the joints and tubes required to assemble the collection of outdoor chairs and tables. During the production process, any aluminum that is left over is used for making the next piece, thereby leaving no waste. The joints and the tubes are assembled using screws and o-rings, thereby, no welding is required in the making of the pieces. The extruded pipe can be replaced to allow for different dimentions in the furniture colleciton and a powder coated finish can be applied to the frame for a variety of different colors and finishes. The seat of the chairs is made from (polyethylene) PE rattan, a material that can withstand any weather conditions.
